Week 8

Start of Pregnancy Week 8 : Day 36 with 230 days to go

During the course of this week, the cerebellum, which is the part of the brain which is responsible for muscle movement, begins to form this week. However, naturally this isn't he only development which is contiuning to grow and develop.

The baby's hand and foot plates will beginning to apear during the course of this week, aswell as the wrist and elbow area's are now also becoming identifiable. By the end of the week, the hand plates will start to develop ridges where the fingers are going to be forming.
The pituitary gland is now beginning to form the baby's brain. The gland produces growth hormone, and other hormones that regulate the function of others glands, such as the thyroid and adrenal glands.
The eye is also continuing to development, with pigment beginning to form on the retina of the eye.
The windpipe, voice box and bronchi are also now beginning to form aswell as the jaw and facial muscles developing. Even the baby teeth buds are beginning to develop under the gums.
Heart development this week is also going strong. By the end of this week the trunk of the pulmanary artery, the blood vessel that sends blood to the lungs to become oxygenated, will have seperated fromt he aorta, as the heart starts to develop the four chambers
Nutritional Sources: Avoid breakfast meats as they may contain up to 50% fat.
