Week 6

Start of Pregnancy Week 6 : Day 22 with 244 days to go

Between weeks 4 and 8 your baby's facial features will begin to develop. 5 Folds will form at the base of the head, these provide the raw material for the baby's chin, cheeks, upper jaw and ears.

The grove that will form the larynx and the voice box will also begin to form, as well as the chest and abdominal cavities are continuing to form.

During the first few days of this week your baby's heart will begin to beat, and circulation is beginning to develop in the mesoderm, yolk sac and in the lining of the placenta. By the 40th day of your pregnancy the baby's aorta will have started to form. The aorta is the largest artery in the body and will be responsible for carrying blood away from the heart to all the organs and tissues

Mid way through this week the eyes will begin to form, and a tiny depressions will start to appear on either side of the head where the ears and inner ear will later form. There are many organs and body parts which will be forming by the middle of this week, and they are:

Arm buds
Liver
Gall bladder
Stomach and Intestines
Pancreas
Lungs
You may notice that there will be certain foods that you may beginning to crave, as well as some foods that don't agree with you and cause heart burn, indigestion, bloating and gas. Take note of those that don't agree with you and stay away from them. You may also start to feel the need to urinate more frequently now as well as the pressure increases on your bladder as your baby develops and grows.

Nutritional Sources: Cereals which are made from unrefined grains, such as oats, wheat and corn are valuable sources of vitamin B.

Interesting Pregnancy Fact : By the end of this week the baby will be 10,000 times bigger than the fertilized egg.
