 | Cord blood is the blood that remains in the umbilical cord and placenta after birth. This blood is rich in stem cells which are the body's building blocks. The body's immune system and blood system originate from these cells. The stem cells found in umbilical cord blood have been used since 1988 to treat more than 70 serious medical conditions including Leukemia, and Sickle Cell Anemia.
